Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Innovation

  • Define and execute the company's long-term technology roadmap aligned with business goals.
  • Lead the adoption of next-generation technologies, especially AI/ML, generative AI, data engineering platforms, cloud-native solutions, and microservices architectures.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage modern data infrastructure and pipelines to support intelligent and scalable business systems.
  • Stay updated on global tech trends and recommend innovations that enhance business value and engineering productivity.
  • Establish WATA’s position as a technology-first company with thought leadership in AI, data engineering, and digital transformation.

Technical Leadership

  • Set engineering standards and enforce best practices in architecture, code quality, CI/CD, DevOps, data infrastructure, and security.
  • Oversee complex system designs and guide scalable, resilient technical and data solution
  • Oversee project teams to ensure successful project delivery, ensuring technical alignment, quality, and timely execution across all engineering initiatives.
  • Lead technical reviews, audits, refactoring initiatives, and continuous improvement programs across software and data systems.

AI, Data Engineering & Modern Tech Implementation

  • Integrate AI-powered and data-driven tools across the software lifecycle (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AI test automation, analytics platforms).
  • Drive implementation of AI- and data-enabled features in client products (e.g., chatbots, recommendation engines, real-time dashboards).
  • Champion for the use of modern data engineering tools such as Apache Kafka, Apache Airflow, Spark, DBT, Snowflake, BigQuery, and cloud-based data lakes.
  • Lead internal R&D efforts to build reusable AI/data accelerators, scalable ETL pipelines, and intelligent platform solutions.
  • Ensure data reliability, observability, and compliance with best practices in data governance and platform scalability.

Presales & Client Solutioning

  • Collaborate with BD and Sales teams to craft competitive, technically sound proposals.
  • Support solution architecture, SoW creation, and PoC demos, especially for AI/data engineering-related offerings.
  • Engage directly with clients to translate business needs into scalable software and data platform strategies.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and grow a world-class engineering team, including software engineers, architects, and data engineers.
  • Guide team development through training on modern frameworks, cloud, AI/ML, and data engineering tools.
  • Foster a culture of learning and innovation across software and data teams, focused on quality, agility, and business value.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with PMO, HR, Finance, and Operations to align delivery capabilities with business demand.
  • Ensure teams are equipped with the latest platforms, cloud resources, and data infrastructure.
  • Support hiring and retention of top-tier talent across full-stack, AI, and data engineering disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software and/or data engineering, with 3+ years in a technology leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in AI/ML, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), data engineering tools (Kafka, Airflow, Spark, DBT, Snowflake, BigQuery), and scalable system architecture.
  • Proven experience with offshore delivery, global clients, and technical consulting.
  • Track record of implementing data-driven enterprise solutions.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Fluent English required (verbal and written).
