We are looking for a Technical Manager who will lead technology teams to build, improve, and support assigned software platforms. You’ll champion best practices by implementing tools and processes. Working with product and project managers, you’ll contribute to technical solutions, planning, and ensuring application quality. You’ll identify and solve technical issues, explore new technologies, and mentor junior engineers. As a senior software engineer/architect, you’ll be actively involved in all development stages, with 70% of your time focused on coding

Your role & responsibilities

  • Manage multiple software development teams and platforms: 
    • Champion the assigned platforms, lead and work hand-in-hand with multiple development teams to build/enhance/support it.  
    • Foster a strong culture of software engineering best practices by implementing processes and tools (code reviews, code quality, automation, CI/CD, platform monitoring, technical knowledge base).  
    • Assist Product Manager, Project Manager, Engineering Manager in technical solution proposal, requirement analysis, work breakdown, high-level estimation, and release planning.  
    • Ensure the performance, quality, security, and responsiveness of applications.  
    • Identify, analyze, and propose resolutions for technical risks and technical issues.   
    • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.  
    • Maintain working knowledge of the software industry and trends.  
    • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.  
  • Be the key senior software engineer/technical architect of your teams:  
    • Participate in all software development activities and R&D activities (backlog refinement, iteration planning, architectural design, documentation, implementation, code review, unit test, test, deployment, maintenance, and support…)  
    • 70% of your workload would be coding related. 

Your skills & qualifications

  • Passionate about coding and enjoy solving challenging problems for large-scale platforms.  
  • 3+ years in a similar role (engineering manager, technical manager, technical architect, solution architect, etc.)  
  • 7+ years’ expertise with Java 11 and above.  
  • Proven successful track record of designing, building, and delivering horizontal scaling and high concurrency software platforms.  
  • Still do the hands-on coding, conduct R&D, create proof-of-concept, and provide technical know-how to the engineers.  
  • In-depth experience of:
    • Microservices architecture, architectural design, software design patterns.  
    • RESTful API design, horizontal scaling, and high concurrency.  
    • Multi-threading and distributed programming.  
    • Spring Framework (Spring Boot 2 & 3, MVC, Security, Spring Cloud Gateway, Spring Data).  
    • MongoDB, Redis/Hazelcast, Kafka. Tomcat/Jetty.  
    • Clean code, coding standards, code review, unit tests, mocking libraries, code coverage, and code refactoring.  
    • Non-functional aspects, i.e., security, performance, and scalability.  
    • CI/CD tools, e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, or Bitbucket.  
    • Strong sense of result-oriented, ownership, and responsibility.  
  • Nice to have:
    • Hands-on experience in developing applications using React Native 
    • Experience in front-end technologies (i.e., HTML/CSS, Node.js, React, TypeScript, Vue.js, or other JavaScript libraries/frameworks).
    • Oracle Professional Certificates.
    • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and container (Docker, K8s).
    • UML, arc42, structure101.
    • Experience setting up Monitoring & Tracing for microservices systems.
    • Good knowledge of the JVM structure, JVM profiling, performance monitoring.
    • Experience with TDD/BDD.
