Your role & responsibilities
Your will contribute by:
- Using your technical expertise to support the team. This will include a lot of coding, designing, testing and supporting delivery
- Local line manager of a team of software developers (Line responsibilities include communicating direction clearly and doing performance reviews, performance management, skill development for the developers who report to you.)
- Interviewing potential new developers
- Effective communication at both technical and business levels
- Troubleshooting and escalating issues when necessary
Your skills & qualifications
Our ideal people will:
Have working knowledge or experience in:
- As a Senior Developer Experience (5 years developing, 3yrs+ as senior)
- Demonstrating stellar software development skills - you have a portfolio of existing code, sites and contributions.
- Managing software developers or demonstrable experience mentoring and providing leadership to other developers - able to guide, teach and do.
- Strong troubleshooting, tracing and debugging skills.
- Mentoring other developers on things like TDD, jUnit, Mocking frameworks, Linux, code review
- Working with requirements-management, backlog grooming and leading the development, review and implementation to technical specifications
- Having a genuine commitment to getting things done
- Utility or CIS/CRM experience is desirable
Technically you will understand and have worked with some (or all):
- Strong Java knowledge
- Java or Java EE Certified,
- Advanced knowledge of patterns, core libraries and frameworks
- Object-Oriented Analysis, Design and Implementation skills
- Demonstrably strong skills in Enterprise Java, including …
- Java Application Server technologies
- JSF 2 with Primefaces
- Java Applets (legacy that we’re converting off of)
- Java Messaging
- Spring and Hibernate
- Working SQL Knowledge
- Comfortable working with legacy back-end and java mid / front tiers
- We use Genero 4GL for some of our high volume back-end processing
- Experienced and comfortable with
- Eclipse as the main IDE
- Leading in an Agile environment (we use JIRA)
- Current Windows experience
- You know your way around Linux with reasonable scripting skills
